It has been a year. It has been a year! It has been a year? Yes, already! And an exciting one to boot! Things were getting crazy. Life was throwing us curve balls from all directions. But, what is life without a little adventure? (Is what I keep telling myself to get through it all!) Wow, so much can happen in a year! When we moved here |
Amelia couldn't walk (although it wasn't long after we got here that she started!). And Charlotte was still in diapers. We have grown immensely this past year, including Hugh and myself. The chaos that was once what we called living is much more organized. The dust is settling and I see more clearly the path ahead. This one has brighter lights and paved roads, but I'm sure we will still have to look out for potholes.
We spent the parting summer days going on bike rides around the city or to Kirchzarten and taking the kids to the park. It is definitely one of our favorite ways to pass the time. We recently came into some more space also. We will still be looking for a permanent place to live but with the extra space it seems - slightly - less dire. We still have room mates and the girls still don't have their own room, but we are getting there!

Our Friends Tricia and Trevor came to visit last week. It was a GREAT few days! And I would like to add: they were our first visitors since we have been in Germany! They live in California and decided to go back packing through Europe. Before staying with us, they went to Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, and Italy to name a few. It was a great feeling seeing Tricia and Trevor while they were on their adventure. It is so awesome seeing how happy my best friend is, and even more awesome seeing her happy and following her dreams! I got to take dinner duty off while they were here. We took them to one of our favorite places to get schnitzel. And we of course ate at the Walfisch (the bar we live above). Two of the nights we ate delicious food prepared by our Top Chef guests! They stayed in our old room; which makes a pretty decent guest room when all of our stuff isn't crammed into it. They made an impression on the girls. Some better than others. (Ahem - Trevor - who startled Charlotte while grabbing a doughnut!) But Tricia had Charlotte talking for a couple days after they left. I guess, same goes for me. haha Next for them is a little more travelling. First the Czech Republic and then to The Netherlands. When Europe has been traveled, they will stop in Michigan and Chicago before heading back to San Diego. |
Coming soon... we have our Visa appointment. And of course, Charlotte's Birthday is right around the corner. The next post will be full of that and hopefully more good news as we forge ahead. Now I will leave you with a few photos of the girls from last year and now(ish). As always the photos section has been updated, here.
